Joshua Dorne to captain West Indies at U19 World Cup 2026

West Indies have confirmed a 15-member squad for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, with top-order batter Joshua Dorne named captain for the tournament in Zimbabwe and Namibia, scheduled from 15 January to 6 February.

Dorne, who made his first-class debut last year, will be supported by all-rounder Jonathan van Lange as vice-captain. The squad also features Jewel Andrew, a familiar name at youth level after appearing in the 2024 edition and already making history as the youngest West Indies men’s player to feature in both T20Is and ODIs.

The selected group reflects strong performances across the 2025 regional competitions and recent international preparatory series, including successful campaigns against England and Sri Lanka, both of which West Indies won.

Several promising talents make up the squad, offering a blend of batting depth, all-round options and bowling variety as the Caribbean side look to make a strong impression on the global stage.

Cricket West Indies High Performance Manager Dwain Gill said the squad was the result of careful planning and long-term development.

“This squad is the product of a deliberate and well-structured preparation and selection process,” Gill said.
“We closely monitored performances in regional Under-17 and Under-19 competitions, focusing on players with specialist skills and the adaptability required for international cricket.

“In putting this group together, we aligned their development with the style of play expected at the senior level, ensured exposure to high-quality matches, and placed strong emphasis on leadership, tactical awareness and individual support within their home territories.”

West Indies have been placed in Group D alongside South Africa, Afghanistan and Tanzania. All of their group-stage fixtures will be held at the High-Performance Oval in Windhoek, Namibia, where the young Caribbean side will aim to build momentum in pursuit of Under-19 World Cup success.
